Daybeds
Daybeds are something that many people have heard of, but few have given much thought to. In fact, many people are not even sure what a daybed is. For some, daybed ensembles and daybed covers are an integral part of spare rooms and side living spaces. To better decide if daybeds are good for you, you should consider a little basic information about both buying and using daybeds.
What They Are
So what exactly is a daybed? Daybeds are usually twin size mattresses sitting on a three sided frame. White iron daybeds are particularly popular because they go well in most settings while still maintaining a bed like feel when being used as a guest bed.
Use
A daybed, as stated earlier, usually only uses a twin size mattress. When not in use for sleeping, your daybed will likely function as a sofa. However, what if you have more than one guest or a couple who needs more than a twin bed? There are two solutions for using a daybed in such a situation.
For one, trundles allow you to put a twin mattress under your daybed and then roll it out and pop it up next to your daybed to form a King Size width mattress (it will be shorter than a king mattress).
The other solution is a full size daybed. Daybed mattresses are usually twin, but there are some frames that will accommodate a full size mattress. While not ideal for a couple, a full size mattress makes the prospect better than with a twin size.
Needs
If you have a daybed, you have to be prepared to use it as both a bed and a sofa. When selecting your day bed linens, keep this information in mind. Additionally, a day bed comforter set can add a coziness to the piece while also allowing for warmth and comfort at night when it is a bed. As you shop for that perfect daybed ensemble, then, just remember that your day bed bedding needs to be versatile, decorative, and functional all at the same time.
As you can see, in their own little way, daybeds are complicated. Since they are used as both bedding and sitting furniture, they require planning in both purchase and accessories. When you start looking for daybeds, just remember to consider your bedding, consider the size, and consider how much it will be used. If you do those things, then your daybed experience will likely be a very good one.
